Explore Killin

A short drive from Loch Tay Highland Lodges will find you in the quaint village of Killin,  a historic conservation village. Home to the beautiful ‘Falls of Dochart’, a stunning series of rapids which are at the western end of Loch Tay, Killin holds its own when it comes to natural beauty.


The village is also the perfect base to set off for walks and trails in the surrounding mountains, with numerous trails and paths starting and ending here.

Ancient Castles

Not too far away you’ll find the ancient ruins of Finlarig Castle and the Moirlanich Longhouse, maintained by the National Trust for Scotland.

Castles in the area are plentiful and it’s well-worth exploring Taymouth Castle Estate, Castle Menzies and Doune Castle, an Outlander film location dating back to the 14th Century which boasts a 100ft high gatehouse and one of the best-preserved halls in Scotland.
